Why even use a meditation cushion?


Well, these cushions support proper spinal alignment, which improves posture and helps prevent discomfort in the lower back, knees, and ankles during longer sessions. They also encourage deeper breathing by supporting the pelvis’s natural tilt, making it easier to stay focused and calm during meditation. Why?

When seated, cushion is keeping your hips elevated above your knees, that helps prevent your lower back from rounding, which can cause discomfort over time.

The spine is our foundation of a healthy and effective practice. By maintaining proper alignment, practice will be deeper, more comfortable experience while preventing pain and supporting your overall physical and mental health. Whether you’re sitting cross-legged, kneeling, or using a chair, remember to stretch up, reaching for the sky as your intention for energy flow. 

What type of meditation cushion is best?

Meditation cushions come in various shapes, each suited to different postures and meditators preferences. Zafus (round cushions) elevate the hips and are ideal for cross-legged sitting, while Zabutons (flat mats) provide knee and ankle support. Bolster cushions help support are preferred by those with tight hips and yoga practitioners. 

In our shop you can find these three cushions:

Mid Zafu is compact and perfect for active meditator, who loves sitting cross-legged and loves spending time sitting on the ground. Perfect for  for Lotus, full and half full, Seiza or rider pose. 

Big Zafu cushion not huge, but big enough for comfortable sitting in cross-legged pose. This cushion is for people who do not spend lots of time sitting on the ground, knees and joints are not super flexible. 

Long cushion or Bolster cushion is personally my favorite because of the variety of poses: Seiza or rider pose fans – if you have sensitive instep that’s for you.  As a support for Yoga or Yin poses and even for lounge area or just chilling on the ground

How do I choose the right height and firmness?

The cushion’s height and firmness should match your body type and flexibility. Taller cushions like Big Zafu are generally better for people with less flexibility, as they help the knees rest more comfortably on the floor. 

What filling is the best for a meditation cushion?


We vote for the organic ones! Buckwheat hulls is the winner here. The big reason is – they conform and contour closely to the body’s shape, providing firm yet adaptable support. Not forgetting to mention the hypoallergenic benefits for sensitive or asthmatic meditators. Ergonomic support for indoor and outdoor use.  As the inside cover is made from linen and zipper – you can adjust the amount of filling for personalized support.

Does meditation cushion need maintenance?

Our cushions are from finest velvet material that is created very durable, rich in color, softness, long-lasting and pet friendly. Turn inside out and hand wash or use hand-wash program in the washing machine. In this case there won’t be any shrinking or color changes. Pet hair are very easy removable. Drying naturally, just air dry is perfect. 

Maintenance is not complicated at all – no direct sunlight to keep the color, store while not used in dry place.

What about the filling? Well, you can always refill your cushion, maybe even at your local shop. You can get a refill of 0,4 kg / 0.9 lb buckwheat hulls for care free refill.
